Since deciding to follow my passion of starting my own website a while back, it’s reminded me just how big of a procrastinator I am! (Well…my wife reminds me of it from time to time also, but thats another story!
You see, my website work has to come after my regular job, my house “chores” & my family time. It’s like I have to carve a new chunk out of my daily activities to be able to write & share about something I love to talk about, self hypnosis.
I’m having to make some changes and adjustments in life to be able to take on this new task. I can’t just quit doing any of the tasks that I’ve been doing, so I need to become more efficient with my time. Now I’ve been a procrastinator as long as I can remember. I’m not as bad as some, but I could definitely use some help.
The company that I work for, offers time management training for associates, so I thought, “this is great! I’ll learn all these time management skills and getting things done will become a breeze!” I learned that the methods that are taught are really pretty good….if you actually use them! Oh sure, when you get out of those classes, you’re pumped up and ready get going. You’ve got your little calendars, and notepads and screen savers and you’ve been evaluated and informed of all the time wasters and the time savers. For about a week, you become a lean, mean productivity machine! Then slowly but surely, all the tools you learned get replaced with old habits and guess what….you’re a procrastinator again.
One thing that I have found that works for me, is self hypnosis.What I like about it is it’s really about as simple as listening to an audio recording as often as possible, (preferably once per day). Really…that’s it! Now granted…you have to devote some time to doing this because you don’t want to listen to the recording while you’re driving or doing something where you will be distracted. But I find that listening to self hypnosis before going to bed works great. Not only does it give your subconscious something to work on while you’re asleep, but it also helps you get a better nights rest because your body is so relaxed from the hypnosis!
